The Netgear MBR624GU 3G Router, This router allows you to insert a compatible 3G USB modem and share it via the onboard wifi. If you happen to have the North American version (being sold without a UK PSU) in the UK you may have tried updated the firmware to the latest version from Netgear.

"Failure" "Firmware upgrade failed. Please check your file"

You will get this error because you are trying to install a worldwide version of the firmware on a North American device

The latest firmware for the North American unit as of Octobver 2011 is V6.01.30.59NA and is available from the Netgear site

So does this unit work in the UK? Yes it works fine in the UK, just use a standard 500ma 12v Netgear Power supply, update the firmware to the one noted above

Once you have done that, you need to find a USB 3G adapter that is compatible with the Netgear, you can check which are on the Netgear site, under the UK Operator section

If you are using the E160g from three, the settings you need are:-

Internet Service Provider = Other

Access Number = *99***1#

APN = 3internet

PDP Type = IP

Also if you experience issues with the E160g loosing connection regularly you should update the firmware to: 11.604.21.00.156
